A Sapphire Season A Novel Lynn Morris 9781455575619 Books

Delightful read!! I loved the characters of Mirabella and Giles. I felt as if I really knew them as they went through daily life events and then moved together into "the season" as best friends. Then as things unfold, they are there for each other and are able to find a stronger bond and relationship. I also loved the ending and how Lynn Morris brought so many things together to paint a picture of life after their big decision. Not only their lives but also their best friends lives for many years down the road. No sequel needed for this book! The book also had scripture and a C hristian message throughout the story - great job Lynn Morris.

A Sapphire Season A Novel Lynn Morris 9781455575619 Books Reviews

Mirabella and Giles have been best friends all their lives. Good or bad Giles has always been by her side to make things better. This year, when they both turn 22, they and two friends have decided to attend the Season in London. Mirabella has decided that she will become betrothed before the Season is over. She and her best female friend Josephine begin making the social rounds at various balls and dinners. Privately, Mirabella has a list of potential men that she will entertain the thought of them perhaps being a good match for her.
As the Season progresses and one man, then another fall off her list, Mirabella begins to notice that Giles is not spending as much time with her as usual. In fact, he has been spending most of his time in the company of one of Mirabella’s friends. Mirabella is down to the last man on her list of potential suitors when she makes a stunning discovery.
If you have a yen to read something face paced, full of action and tension, then this is not the book for you. If, however, you are interested in the life of ladies in the early 1800s, romance, heartache and spiritual awakening, then here is a book for you. The many details regarding clothing and food and setting at first helped me feel a part of the story; however, these same details when used so much slowed the story somewhat. The best part of the book for me was the spiritual life of Mirabella that is transformed from shallow contact with God to a place of total surrender and dependence on God to get her through each and every day. She learns that only God can get her through depression, grief, sadness and to appreciate His many blessings in her life. I am a new reader of this author and I look forward to more of her works.
A Sapphire Season by Lynn Morris is a very well done Regency novel, and I must say I loved the close connection the daughter had with her parents. Now I'm dying to read her other Regency novel!

Mirabella Tirel, the daughter of a marquess, is finally ready to get married so she decides to announce her intention to someone who can spread the word right at the beginning of the season. Immediately, she has three very good prospects. But as she examines them, she begins to wonder if she made a terrible mistake.

Giles Knyvet, lifelong friend to Lady Mirabella, keeps his mouth shut when Bella broadcasts her goal of marriage to everyone in polite society. Wishing his situation was different so that he could marry her, he decides to back off while she searches for her life partner. But will he be able to withstand seeing her with someone else?

I was incredibly happy to read a novel from this time period where the main character is kind with parents who love her instead of trying to sell her off to the highest bidder. I found it refreshing since the majority of stories are written the other way. Plus, I connected more to the story and it's characters because there wasn't this huge drama. Also, the banter was perfect for that time period. It transported me back in time, but then left me bereft when I was finished. Now I have to watch some Jane Austen movies to make up for it. What a chore... ;-) I definitely recommend this to any Regency fans.

I was given this book for free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Sapphire season is the newest novel written by Lynn Morris, who also wrote the bestselling novel, “The Baron’s Honourable Daughter”. This newest novel features Lady Mirabella Tirel, who is a simple and beautiful daughter of the Marquess of Camarden. As she is nearing twenty-two years, she makes the ultimate decision to enjoy this last London season and live out the rest of her married life somewhere far from London. As any romance novel needs a male hero, this novel introduces one in the form of Sir Giles Knyvet, a dashing man who is also one of Mirabella’s oldest friends. Adding to a popular romance formula, this young man is also secretly in love with her; with complications that include family debt, emotional insecurity and titles. They do get their happy ending, but the beauty of this book is a great focus on the journey each character takes and how their choices better them for each other. Chapter 1 begins with a peek into the idyllic friendship, and somehow that formula works. As a reader, I particularly like how this novel begins and highlights the value of friendship when thinking about marriage. Even if it is fictionally set in a time far from our modern times, some values such as friendship in marriage is a refreshing thing to be focused on.

If I can be honest, it did take me a while to get into this book (It might just be me!). I found the cover really beautiful and the book summary engaging (I’m big into anything with historical undertones). The underlying theme to this book is something I find exemplary, “Thy will be done.” Both characters focused on pleasing God, from their daily and routine decisions, to ultimately their big decision on marriage. That in itself, makes this book a great encouragement for those who like reading fiction and hope for one with a great message and perspective.

I received a free copy from Faithwords/Hachette Book Group , in exchange for a review. I was not asked to write a positive review in exchange for a copy, but choose to write a review that is constructive, honest and helpful to other consumers.
Poor writing style. Too fake
