Ellen's and her husband Ben's life are drawing to the end as their favorite granddaughter June is beginning her own. After suffering from a fall, Ben's memory is faulty and Ellen's heart isn't as strong as it used to be. Still, Ellen searches for scraps of cloth from the past to make a special quilt for her granddaughter's upcoming marriage.
June becomes a runaway bride seeking refuge in her grandparent's farmhouse. She sits with her grandmother as she prepares the quilt and both the reader and Ellen's granddaughter become a captive audience as she shares stories of the old west and a woman who lived there at the turn of the 20th century.
Nell traveled to Texas to find a husband and after settling on a ranch to work as a cook, she begins a flirtation with a handsome cowboy. Thus starts Dallas's tale of a runaway bride.
Entertaining and tender, the reader travels with Nell and shares her journey of self-discovery. Sparse as the prairie and plainspoken as the people she writes about, Dallas weaves an interesting story of finding the love and recognizing it for what it is.

An easy read. Fairly predictable , but a good story.
Sandra always writes a great historical novel. Easy to read, intriguing with a good connection to the main characters. She draws a picture of how life was ‘back in the day’.
Sandra Dallas delivers another captivating novel. Of course, there are references to Colorado, her home state (and mine, too). Just love her historical fiction works.
Great book. Sandra Dallas writes beautifully - I get totally lost in her books. The Patchwork Bride was no exception. I couldn't put it down.
I loved the stories within the story! I love that true love prevailed, a!beit with twists and turns. The historically correct references and language are hallmarks of Sandra 's nove!s and this one did not disappoint. Can't wait for whatever she writes next.
I love Sandra Dallas' books so was really looking forward to reading her latest one. Huge disappointment. Barely held my interest.
This is a cute little book very much along the same lines as Prayers For Sale, but only half as good as PFS. It’s the stories being told by an older woman, in this case the grandmother, to her granddaughter. It’s easy to figure out that the stories are really about herself. There is a small twist at the end. It’s a nice, simple read.
