I already owned the Michelin Italy map at 1 to 300,000. But it was so small scale you couldnot see enough of the secondary roads. This Fretag-Berndt map is 1 to 150,000, twice the scale,
but you still cannot make out the complicated intersections of roads. Good for planning purposes,
but I will probably get some really large scale local maps when I get to Italy. (plus GPS)

This is a well printed map on sturdy paper. Level of detail is good. Shows rail and boat routes. Mountain areas are nicely color shaded. Coverage area is as advertised so don't expect anymore. Be prepared for a fairly large map once unfolded - this is not something you can easily slip in your pocket. Due to size may be best suited for trip planing if you are trying to travel as light as possible.
